Belinda McArdle

I love to sing. When I am happy I sing, sad I sing, worried, stressed, joyous, overwhelmed and so on. I believe in singing and I believe in music. Singing with other people is my favourite thing to do so I am very motivated to foster and help to grow the community of Acabellas.

My credentials for the role are decent through whichever lens you choose. My favourite lens is simply that I have been singing since I was speaking, performing since I was 4 and started my first choir when I was in Grade 4. Qualifications include Grade 8 Modern Singing, Grade 6 Music Theory, Bachelor of Arts (Hons) and various music courses. Professionally I work with Acabellas, Community Music Victoria and I volunteer for Pulse Radio.

Each year I publish my creative goals so in 2017 I will:
Provide quality weekly session with a broad range of material from various genres. I particularly want to focus on moving away from only block harmony to a variety of complimentary vocal paths
Host monthly vocal workshops as well as invite guest workshop leaders to the Acabellas Community from across the state, country and overseas
Co-host two singing and wellbeing retreats outside of the regular sessions to for the fun and fulfilment of the community participants.

Lisa Singline

What a joy and privilege to share in music-making in the community with individuals and groups! I am so grateful to have been doing this work with Acabellas for more than 10 years. As a community based musician and artist, I relish the mix of creative engagement in singing, song writing and teaching with the use of voice and instruments. It is enriching to work in collaboration with others and to embrace a diversity of creative projects. Whether working with adults or children, I am passionate about supportively allowing space for ‘being’ and ‘play’. I believe this creates a vital context to experience music and bring nourishment through personal exploration and expression.

I am pleased to offer community workshops with people of all ages, encompassing singing and instrumental groups on a weekly basis as well as regular drumming and ukulele sessions, and private tuition with music students. My qualifications include Cert IV Workplace Assessment and Training, Cert III in Education, ANZCA Grade 6 Modern Singing and Grade 3 Music Theory and last year I completed a Diploma in Meditation and Mindfulness.

Some goals I hope to realise this year are to create the musical context, in the weekly sessions and workshops, for individuals and groups to take risks with greater freedom and to make room for more ‘play’ in their life. To offer quality workshops which are both practical and fun which assist in the deepening musical skills and to present beginner meditation classes which allow for the exploration and discovery of different techniques.

"Do what you love and love what you do." I am not sure who originally suggested this but I could not agree more wholeheartedly! I love to sing and create music and I love to nurture my wellbeing with beautiful self care activities. Over 10 years ago I decided that I would make this blissful calling my work and have been discovering and deepening my abilities and knowledge ever since. The combination of music and wellbeing weave together harmoniously and nothing makes me happier than sharing this with those who attend my Nurture Workshops, Reiki, Sound and Singing Sessions.

For the past 9 years I have worked in schools and kindergartens in the Geelong area and continue to provide fun and educational workshops for our youngest singers and music makers. In 2016 I released my first childrens CD of original songs I Cant Stand Still  which has had toes tapping and hips wiggling, from the very young to the young at heart! I have qualifications in Grade 5 Modern Singing, Grade 2 Music Theory, Reiki Master Level and over 20 years of personal research and study into wellbeing, spirituality and relaxation. You are invited to join me in sessions that allow you to sing, relax, reflect, express and create. It is so important to take the time to nurture yourself, fill your inner well and shine your unique light out into the world and it would be my absolute pleasure to guide and support you.
My goals for 2017 are to co-host two singing and wellbeing retreats with Belinda, record a beautiful Meditation CD for relaxation and nurturing and provide a performance opportunity for my private singing students so they can shine their little lights brightly!
